Melissa Dominguez, MFT

Melissa is a pre-licensed professional and master’s level extern. She recently graduated from National University and is working towards licensure in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is a Certified Level 1 Gottman Method Couples Therapist. Melissa graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. In her undergraduate work, she focused on Intimate relationships and family development. During her graduate internship, Melissa was able to meet with clients from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, social economic status, sexual orientations, and families of origin. Melissa embraces the idea that your family of origin has a big impact on your view of yourself, relationships, boundaries, expectations, and life in general.

Clinical Focus

In her therapeutic approach, Melissa strives to understand both individual behaviors and family dynamics. When working with couples, she helps each partner recognize how their family background influences their relationship dynamics. For individuals, her focus is on increasing emotional stability and strengthening interpersonal relationships. In family sessions, Melissa helps facilitate discussions that help family members understand and manage their roles and emotional responses more effectively. She strives to maintain curiosity during sessions to continue to understand each individuals motivations, challenges and growth.

In her spare time, Melissa enjoys being outdoors, hiking, Latin dancing, finding new restaurants, and attending sporting events and concerts.

Melissa is fluent in Spanish and can provide therapeutic services to both couples and individuals in Spanish.
