Dr. Nancy Long, LMFT-S, LPC

Nancy has been in the field of counseling for more than 40 years. She received her Master of Science in Clinical and School Psychology from Tennessee State University, her Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and her Doctor or Ministry from Virginia Union University. She is an ordained elder with the United Methodist Church and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. Throughout her career, Nancy has worked in private practice, community care, and non-profit organizations. Nancy deeply cares about the people she encounters and believes that we can all reach our potential with support, encouragement, and a positive spirit.

Clinical Focus

Nancy utilizes psychodynamics, the Gottman Method and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to work with couples that are feeling stuck in their cycle of conflict and disconnection. She works with couples to help them understand one another, identify their underlying drivers and defenses and help them move toward connection and intimacy. Nancy works with individuals to help them gain a stronger sense of self and heal from a distorted to self image to a view of themselves as lovable, worthy individuals. Nancy understands the toll which a life of ministry can have on an individual, a couple and a family and she works with ministers and leaders to help them achieve a life of balance, teach them to take time to care for their emotional and relational health, learn to communicate effectively and become leaders of integrity.
