About Sharlene Johnson

Sharlene Johnson is a Master’s-level Marriage and Family Therapy intern at The Marriage Point, working under the supervision of Lana Banegas, LMFT, CST. She is completing her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Mercer University School of Medicine (expected 2027) and holds a Master’s in Information Systems from Kennesaw State University. She is also a Certified Life Coach through the International Association of Professional Recovery Coaches (IAPRC). Sharlene works with individuals, couples, and families and is comfortable across this full range of clinical work.

Clinical Focus

Sharlene’s style is warm, direct, and compassionate, and she adapts her approach to meet each client where they are. With couples, she focuses on emotional healing and vulnerability, helping partners uncover underlying needs, work through conflict, and rebuild intimacy and accountability. With individual clients, she listens with compassion and lets each person’s own needs guide the direction and pace of the work. With families, she creates a safe space for members to be vulnerable with one another while helping identify and shift the patterns that keep a family stuck.

Before coming to clinical work, Sharlene spent more than 15 years in corporate leadership and entrepreneurship, which gave her a firsthand understanding of how career, ambition, and organizational life shape family relationships and personal well-being. That experience, combined with years spent mentoring and coaching others, is part of what drew her to therapy: a chance to pair lived wisdom and relatability with clinical training, and to do intentionally what she had already spent years doing informally — helping people find their way to a steadier sense of peace, whether within themselves, with a partner, or within their household.

Outside of the therapy room, Sharlene is a lover of live music, a self-described foodie, and deeply values time with family and friends. She holds her roles as a mother, wife, daughter, and friend close — while also making space to simply be herself.
